Hi.

This winter project takes a lot more time than planned (as usual). Since last posting I've removed the door weather strips and cleaned the doors for glue and some rust, fortunately nothing serious. I also had a screw hole on the left hand door that was so cracked that it wasn't possible to use it anymore. To fix this I used a metal washer, the original screw and two nuts and pressed the screw into the washer so it got the same shape as the screw. Then the washer was welded into the doors and plastered, primed and painted.
The door openings and door edges are also plastered, primed and painted.

All the door locks, screws etc. have been re plated or polished.

To be continued…..

Dan,

The car was repainted around 1990. The original color was Winterset white. But the painted color is slightly less yellowish compare with the original color (which still exist behind back seat, covers etc). When it was repainted they may have used Wimbledon white, which was the color Ford changed to in August 58 I believe.

Cool

Gunnar yes you are correct and Wimbleton white has a softer creamier look to it. My wife's 58 once cleaned and waxed looks great
