    Panel Under Rear Window

I've looked at a lot of pictures, but thought I would ask to see what guys think. The panel that I have that goes under the rear window is in really bad shape. Probably from the rear window seal leaking for a long time. It appears the panel was vinyl coated to match the panel that mounts above the rear seat. If this is correct, how have you guys been restoring them? I could strip it down to bare metal and apply a textured coatings that could then be painted. The other option would be to have it recovered with a vinyl and then paint that to match. Or I guess a third option would be to leave it bare metal and just paint it.
What have you guys been doing. I'm sure I'm not the only one with a bad panel in this location.

If it's too far gone I usually just look for a replacement from another car. It's difficult to replicate the factory coating.

If you have to replace it, check with Carl Heller ~ partsetal. He has plenty of Squarebird parts and might have one.

Hi Nyles, like John said, if it's too far gone replace it. If it just needs cleaning I would vinyl it. You should be able to get the same colour vinyl without having to paint it. Just make sure you glue it properly so it doesn't bubble or lift.
