Hi Kevin, is the other side like that also? Have you had a chance to check to floor pans and that area up front? Hopefully, they will not have the same problem.

Default that's the only real damage

no, other side has some very minor paint bubbles right at very bottom, but nothing remotely like that. floor pans - so far - very solid. havent opened trunk yet - as noted in earlier post, trunk lock totally frozen to the point I'm drilling it out. Im hopeful the build sheet or other info may be in trunk.

Kevin, before you drill out that trunk lock you might take a look at how some of the guys who could not get into their Squarebird trunks got their trunks open. This might not work for your Flairbird, but it might be worth a try. Here is the link to that information contained in our Technical Resource Library.

http://www.squarebirds.org/picture_g...structions.htm

You may have to figure out how to get the back seat backrest out, because it is probably different for the Flairbird. But you want to get it out sooner or later to check in the springs for that ROT sheet. It is not likely to be in the trunk, unless there is paperwork for the car there, manuals or books.

If you take out the back rest and get the trunk latch open as the guys with Squarebirds did, let us know what you had to do to get the backrest out, and get access to the trunk.

I am glad to hear that the rust is not on both sides of the car.

Here's a little aside comment about "recommended" vs. "also available" combinations: Today I received a request for information about a 1956 Ford Country Sedan built at Long Beach. It is Goldenglow Yellow and Colonial White, and it has a red and white vinyl interior. Believe it or not this combination is marked as "recommended" in the 1956 Ford color/upholstery compatibility guide. It makes Kevin's car seem conservative and tame in comparison.

Today, a new car in these colors would be considered positively anti-social, as horrifying as white walls! In fact I doubt there is any car out there which even offers a true red-and-white interior, and I am not talking about red-and-white or red seats with black console/dash/door panels/steering wheel/carpeting. I mean red and white.
