Default 14" Steel Rims dimensions

Hi,
Does anyone knows the original dimensions for my 14" steel rims? 14" X 5" or 14" X 5,5"?
Bolt pattern, is there a number for this? And "rear spacing"?

Anders, to further deviate from this thread about wheel size, apparently the Swedish military has no guidelines as to hair style as in the "High and Tight" that is popular with the USMC. You are a year younger then I (550701). In 1976 my hair was the length of yours also, but I was not in the military. Good luck on your wheel measurements and Happy New Year!

Thanks a lot for the guidlines. A few things to learn there.

But if someone still sits on the Original numbers for our hubs, I would appreciate that as even if I now know how to mesure, I still have a hughe mountain to climb as I canīt mesure in inch, and itīs quite tough to translate metric into inch.

Buy an American inch and foot tape - and a steel rule.

We 'went metric' after I left school and I use both, mostly I stick to inches as all my old cars are non-metric.

Well, well, well....
I have that, but when I mesure something there is now way in heaven I know when things goes from 13/16, 1/2 to 7/8 or whatevet it can be. Itīs so unlogical itīs a wonder USA have been able to build any thing!
With metric, you kind of go from 1 to 2, then 3 or 1,1 to 1,2 and so on....

Ah, you get use to it Anders - and find out you can use 13mm sockets if you haven't got a 1/2" - or a 17mm for 5/8" and so on!!


But don't get me going on metric threads, sheesh, I thought with metrics 'simplifying' things it would be easy but there seems to be a multitude of threads - and bolts with the same thread but different head sizes...

Here in the Great ole US of A we rely on a good set of both metric and SAE tools, cause seems like later model Fords and Chevys are a hodgepodge of both metric and SAE fasteners. Some folks keep all of their metrics messed in with their ‘normal’ tools, but what a mess that is ‘cept when you’re lookin’ for a 9/16 socket. Ohh, there’s a 14mm, that’ll work.

So of course as anal-retentive as I am, I keep everything separate, metric to metric and SAE to SAE. Course gotta half a different tool box for ž”, 3/8” and ―” drive tools. So I basically carry around 6 tool boxes for every car or boat I work on. Oh and that’s really convenient for sure. I have often thought about getting one many multi compartmentalized tool box for it all, but then the tool box would be as big & heavy as a coffin.

Always have wondered what do you “True Metric” guys have for drive measurements on your ratchets? Of course we, in the States, have ž”, 3/8” and ―” drives. Are there metric drive measurements too?

Yeah, just hand me that 3/8” drive 14mm socket. Can’t find it? Ok, then the 9/16 socket will do!

Too bad Anders...I just sent all 5 rims and hub caps off to "Colo 66". I was born in Canada and we turned to metric when I was 18. I move to the US when I was 25, so back to inch. Then I became a Machinist and under ISO 9001 and went back to metric. Then got layed off and back to inch. Now I'm a Machinist again at a Japanese electronics firm...back to metric. But now I have my 60 bird...back to inch...you might say i go both ways!
