Default Rechrome or Not?

Any suggestions on whether to buy new chrome emblems and trim pieces or try to have them re-plated? Anyone ever bought parts from Concours? I am looking at the trim pieces out of that catalog. Are they just cheaply made Taiwan pieces or are they of good quality?
Thanks,
Dan

I would buy the reproduction pieces. It is very difficult to replate the trim pieces such as the bird emblems and still keep the detail. I bought the repro 1960 rear fender hash marks, roof birds and they are excellent. The fender birds are good, the bird in them is a little distorted. The front bird emblem has a distorted face. I replated my fornt bird, but that did not come out so well.

All the T-Bird suppliers get the repro parts from the same source, so you can shop around.

I have sent a number of trim pieces out for replating estimates in the last couple of years and the cost was usually 2 to 3 times what the price of a reproduction part was. Also there are more and more of the pot metal reproduction parts coming out all the time, with really excellent quality.
