Default Original Service Manual vs. Reprint

Anyone compared an original service manual to one of the reprints offered today? Are the originals any easier to read or of better print quality? The pop up sometimes on eBay.

I've got a reprint and find that many of the photos and illustrations look like they are multigeneration photocopies. Too much contrast and not enough detail. I'm thinking that an original might be better, but it might just be the quality of the photographs.

I have a "repro" 1958 shop manual. I also recently bought an original on Ebay... the pictures in the original manual are by far much better quality, in the reprint the pictures are so dark they have almost no detail..... so I look suff up in my reprint and if I need to see the more detail in the picture I open up the original...........

I have an original bought on E-Bay. I got it for $34 + shipping. It only has one fingerprint on it -- somewhere.

I think that if you wait for a nice one, you can get an original on E-Bay for the same price as a repro.

I'll let you know if I spot one.

Cool

Hi guys. I would tend to agree that the originals are a lot more detailed than the repro. I do the same thing with my original copy I bought and the one that came with 58 with all the grease etc.
