Default 1972 Volkswagen Power Golde Top

Here are some pictures of Scott's "sunroofghia" 1972 Volkwagen Ghia equipped with a power sunnroof from Golde. Note the aluminum rails on which the roof rides are similar if not identical to the ones on the 1960 Thunderbird Golde Top.

Compare it to the rails on a 1960 Thunderbird with factory sunroof:

Thank you Alexander for putting them up.
I have found some very cool stuff recently, namely the golde roof patents for your T-bird manual roofs as well as our electric roof!
I am working on an MSN page to put them and I will let you all know when I'm done.
Thanks again,
Scott

Kevin sent me some more pictures of Scott's VW Golde top including a picture of the motor, which is identical to the one in Kevin's 1960 Thunderbird power Golde Top.

Scott, if you want you can e-mail me the patent pictures at lodclub@prodigy.net and I can post them. Thanks for finding this fascinating information.

Update: I have just found out my roof is an American Sunroof installed kit. I spoke to ASC in L.A. and they said they would install the sunroof on behalf of the dealership.
BTW, I found out ford has an archive which has info on important cars they built. You guy's may want to write ford to see if they have anything on file. I was told the archives may be at the Henry Ford museum.I tried to get an exact addy but no luck.
Good luck and let me know what happens.

Default RE: Golde Top patent

For those of you who may have trouble viewing the patent at the uspto.gov website, I have posted US patent 3055701 here: http://www.squarebirds.org/golde_top...t/FrameSet.htm . Since this patent was filed in July of 1959, my guess is that the 1958 Thunderbird sunroof in the Golde Top brochure was probably built in 1959 as a test mule.
