Thanks for the welcome.
I live in Rockwall (20 miles east of Dallas).
I was originally restoring a 1947 Chevy Stylemaster but somewhere along the line I realized I liked fins!
So off goes the Chevy and I am having my 60 Tbird picked up this Saturday!!
Not so new to cars but new to Tbirds.
I also am building a Volksrod for my girlfriend right now.
I'm excited to get to know you guys and soak up some of your knowledge,
I'm juts glad to be here!Comment

Welcome, Irishman !!
Welcome, Derrick! When you get your Tbird and start checking her out to see what she needs in the way of TLC, post in the 1958-1960 Squarebirds Forum and the guys will be glad to help you troubleshoot her. If you find she needs a number of things fixed, pick the most important one to you to do first. Before you start, take a lot of pictures of the area you are going to work on so you will have them to fall back on later on when you start putting things together again.
My suggestion is that you do not start a number of different projects at the same time. Go one by one, one at a time, so you don't get confused. Don't start throwing parts at projects, but troubleshoot the problem to find the source and learn how to fix it. You will need a shop manual, perhaps electrical manual, and others. The electrical schematic for your Tbird is located in the Technical Resource Library, the link to which is always part of my signature element. You will find the list of our Tbird parts houses listed in the Advertisements Forum. You can buy your manuals through one of them.
When I welcomed you to this Forum, I gave you instructions on how to post pix on here. Please follow those instructions. Once you get your Tbird, if you want to show us what she looks like, post pix in Our Rides. As you work on problems she might have, you can post pix you take of the problem area in the '58-'60 Squarebirds Forum. Pix help us troubleshoot the problem(s) you might be having if we can see what ya are working on.
Once you have your 1960 Tbird, if you give me the VIN # and Data Plate information, I can tell you what your Tbird looked like when it left the factory so many years ago. Good luck to you, and let us help you save time, money and effort. Most of our members have been down the road you are about to embark on many times before and can help. Our webmaster, Dave Dare ~ simplyconnected, is one of the best Ford man around, having worked in the Ford plants in his area for years before retirement.

That's cool Derrick. And beleive me, I'm always been more of a GM guy my whole life. But these classic 1950's FORDS ROCK!!!
I Fell in love with these 1958-60 T-Birds way back in the late 1980's. I was in high school back then & my father brought home my 1st "involved project". It was his brother's 1958 Ford Fairlane Galaxie 500 sedan. From that point on I was "bit".
I get really tired of seeing ALL of these 1957 Chevy's too. I hate them. LOL!
I kept seeing old restoration books & brouchers while me and my father brought this 1959 Galaxie back to life & then I saw a 1959 T-bird in the original Ford sales broucher. I told my dad we had to find me one!
Anyways, welcome to the site. Take lots of pics, take your time, and enjoy theose new "fins"!!
