Hey everyone, I had my choke wired up to my coil, but I heard that's not a good idea, then I heard hooking it up to the alternator, good and bad things about that. I think I might want to wire it up to the fuse panel, which fuse should I wire it up to, so it only goes on with the key? Thanks!

I would connect it to one of the 20 amp two post breakers. You should have one for windows and seats and one for heater and a/c. Both are switched.

Thanks, I had it hooked up to my alternator not knowing it was a hot connection, 12 hours later I realized went out to the garage and the connectors to the choke were blazing hot, I disconnected everything, hopefully I didn't burn out my choke element.Comment

What year? Fuse boxes with circuit breakers weren't used until 1962. Squarebirds did not have a fuse box.

If you have power windows you can hook it up to the relay on the firewall. If not you will have to find another switched 12V source or hook it directly to the ignition switch. Do not use the coil.

If I hook it up to the window relay on the firewall won't the choke be on if I have the key in accessory, like listening to the radio without the car running? Thanks.Comment
