    58 (& 59) Convt Question

    Hi All!!!!

How do you un-latch the deck lid?
    I saw a 59 a few yrs ago that had a chrome
push-button where my conv top switch goes.
    Didn't look factory.

    Just curious.

I drove ol' Trigger last weekend. Still runs like a swiss watch.

There's a key lock push button under the dash to unlock the deck solenoids.

The 1958 and 1959 tops operate like this:

1 - Release the roof latches at the front of the top.
2 - Push the button under the dash to release the deck lid.
3 - Get out of the car and go to the driver's side of the deck lid.
4 - Lift the deck lid manually.
5 - Lift the flapper manually.
6 - Operate the switch at the side of the trunk to raise the top until it folds back into the trunk.
7 - Lower the deck lid manually. Push down to lock.
8 - Get back in the car.

For 1960, except for the roof latches, everything is done automatically.

Sorry for the slow reply & to dig this up again.
          Thanks for all the info!!!

I'm just curious about this (WAY) simple system.
The 60 & newer system is VERY complicated. Guys that work on the Space Shuttle would shrug & say "I dunno". I mean, it's cool to watch & all. But what if you have a dead battery? What if the hyd system fails? Too much to go wrong.

How do those latches work? I've tried to find videos
          of an 8 or 9.

I'm going to fix mine, but if I ever get another "Vert" it will
definitely be a 59 (Love that grille too - and no qtr mldgs)

          Thanks guys !!
