      RE: POWER SUNROOF

Okay, I am confused. The Sun Roof installed on the 1960 Thunderbirds, was it power operated or a manual crank or knob to turn? I am talking of when the car was new, and arrived via truck at the dealers. I just assumed that they were power, now...I am not so sure.

        RE: POWER SUNROOF

The $212 option for 1960 was for a manually operated sunroof made by Golde. It is not a crank operated roof. All that needs to be done is to twist the knob in the front of the roof and pull it bck and then twist again to lock it in place. Golde also made power operated roofs for the aftermaket at the time. Apparently one or more 1960 Thunderbirds were built with power cable operated sunroofs. I just got an e-mail the other day from a gentleman telling me he had owned a power operated sunroof on a 1960 Thunderbird.

          RE: POWER SUNROOF

Is there any paperwork indicating the possibilty of a 2nd upgrade. Such as:-

          Sun Roof ............. $ 212.00
          Power Sun Roof .....$ xxx.xx

          It's possible - any such documentation ?

            RE: POWER SUNROOF

As far as I know nothing of the sort exists. It is unfortunate that the ROT sheet of the power sunroof Thunderbird has not been found. Surely it would show a different code or special written instruction for a power sunroof.

I wonder if Kevin found the computer punch card in the roof. Perhaps it might provide some verification.

              RE: POWER SUNROOF

This is a Ford publicity picture of how easy it is to use the manual sunroof on a Thunderbird. Who needs a power sunroof, when the manual one can be operated by a young lady with one finger?

$212 option in 1960 (babe not included)

                  Sandy,
As you know at the end of the month the car will be ready with the power roof fitted. I will try to see if the installer has any price plans for the power option.
Alex please forward that e-mail from the guy who had the power one years ago, would love to talk to that guy.
                  Kev.

The fellow found a picture of the car. It turns out his memeory of the car was a little fuzzy. It did have a power operated roof but it was a convertible.

I would like to see a picture of Ken's new Golde Top or of your power Golde Top, for that matter.

Ken's car must look like the one in the brochure, except for the interior. Does he still have the original blonde the car was equipped with?
