    Headlights

I want to swap out the basic incandescent headlights (both low and high beams) with 12V sealed beam Halogens on the '62. Would there be a problem with doing this, or will it cause a strain on the elecrtical system??

The best way to do this is to use two relays, mounted at the front of your car. Let the existing headlight switch wires turn on a Hi beam relay coil or a Lo beam relay coil.

You should install a 15-amp fuse on a new #14AWG copper stranded feed wire from your battery (or starter relay). This will lighten the load on your existing dash feed wire and headlight switch.

If you already have an alternator, you can use just about any of the modern headlights without draining your battery.

If you don't have an alternator, I suggest you get a modern one from any bone yard. Modern alternators are at least 100-amps and they include internal voltage regulators. - Dave
