Thanks for asking. Well, what can I say.... Long time no see
Since I sprayed the body with primer on and a half year ago or so, I have been busy with a lot of things. Shaved the doors, build myself a small paint boot ( Works GREAT! ) , paint some helmets for karting, being a grand dad to 4, and 2 more to come this summer , fishing a lot after the best summer for ages, buying a new boat, renovating our cellar, and working a lot. New german bosses means more stress by some reason, so I have been very tired on weekdays/evenings. But I´m back and today ( as a matter of fact ) I finally got my engine bay and door openings primed as well, + some smaller parts like the steering column and hinges.
Next up, I guess is to go over and sand the engine bay, give it a coat or two of ground before I paint it semi gloss black. Then I can put back the engine and tranny and start working on the body. Thought awhile that I would paint it silver in here, but the black will be much more forgiving as I don´t yet plan to change all cables and other stuff. The valve covers and the air intake will get some attention though. Oh, I almost forget, need to take care of the front suspension in the process. Will blaster those parts and paint them as well before changing all joints and other moving parts before we drop the engine back in. Jeeez, there´s a lot of job ahead, and soon it´s time to take care of the garden after the winter AGAIN...

          Anders:
The pictures and to do list are all so familiar to me. I finally bit the bullet, and after stripping the entire car down to bare metal, I got it into a body shop where it has resided for the last 5 months. I have hopes of getting it back in about another month, but time will tell.
I ended up with so much more body work than I ever anticipated.
It will be fun to continue seeing your progress.

                There's actually an "s" missing, it's www.t-birdsbynick.com, but it's still not available.

Did you know that there's an internet archive? I checked it and it's got some of his site, but not all. They do have his main landing page for 1958-1960 Tips, but, sadly, not the Steering Column and Shift Linkage page.

As I am busy painting plenty of parts with primer at the moment, thge time came to the Quarter Panel Extension in the very end and aoround the rear lamps. As there was a little dent on one part, the outer one on the left side. I carefully tryed to fix that, but unfortunally it only gave me a crack If there is anyone out there who might have a spare in good condition for a resonable money I´m very interested. The vital part is the left outer, but if there is a whole set, I can think of that as well.

Anders, PM Carl Heller ~ partsetal. There is a good chance he has some. If not, check with The Bird House in Delaware, the Bird Nest in Oregon, and John Draxler at Thunderbird Ranch.

Note that most 58's for the outer trim piece used a nipple at the top to attaché it to the upper fin.
In 59 and 60 Ford changed this design to a screw. Assume they would interchange with ome effort.
