California '66 Town Landau For Sale

From time to time, we get emails from people who might not be part of our Forum, but have been reading it as guests. Sometimes they become part of our Forum. Sometimes not. Here is an email from William out in San Francisco who has a 1966 Town Landau for sale. Here is his contact information. His name is William Brambila ~ willpttsbrg9@aol.com 415-823-5750.

William would like you to look at the pictures and give him an idea here in this thread of what it might be worth selling for. He does not know much about Tbirds.

Here is a description of his Tbird followed by a number of pix. I broke down his Data Plate information for you and him.

Town Landau. 390 engine. Auto trans, runs and drives good, rebuilt engine and C6 transmission. The leather in the back seat was supposed to be for the front seats. I am considering it for sale. Not perfect paint, has nicks here and there. What ball park figure would it be worth? It also has disc brakes front and p/s. No AC. clean title, California, rust free bird. Some modifications, rims, No roof S bars, no fender "gunsights", etc.

The Data Plate info says it left the factory as a Town Landau with the blind quarter panel and vinyl roof. Code code=M = Wimbledon White, Trim Code=25 = Red Leather, Date=6 June 1966, DSO=72 = San Jose, CA, Axle=1 = 3.0, Tran=4 = C6 3 Speed Dual Range.

    Here are the pix.

Can anyone venture a guess regarding what the value of this Tbird might be from the description and pix provided?

It's hard to make a guess just from pictures. Nice flairbird hardtops on Ebay are selling anywhere from $4000-$8000. It's not a show car so I would say somewhere in the middle. Not having air hurts the value. If that car was on the East coast it would probably bring a little more because it's rust free. In CA it's not that big a selling point. I've seen a number of nice '66 hardtops/landaus in my area the past few years and they are tough to sell. They just don't seem to have the appeal that other T-Birds have. When you've bought and sold as many old cars as I have you find out that a car is only worth what someone will pay for it. My recommendation is to start high. You can always lower the price but you can't raise it.

I agree with you all the way John. Ray, see if he can send you more photos, engine bay, interior, trunk, what the modifications are, mileage, etc., that would play a big roll in price.

I would tend to agree with John's assessment of the value. On the car sites ensure it is under $10K for best possible search potential for people looking for classics under $10k and then settle for best offer. I did that with one a couple of years back and got plenty of hits.
Watch out for " tire kickers "that won't to steal it though
