It was the equivalent of the Nomad in trim. Ford sold over 46,000. I think Ford made over 150,000 two-door wagons that year.
Unlike the Nomad, the survival rate of Del Rios is dismal. I have never seen one in a show. Nomads, of which they made many fewer, are a common site at car shows.
Good luck restoring a Del Rio, there are no repro trim parts made.
So,,,, I am correct, it WAS a 2-Door Wagon ! I do recall them, but not vividly. I only recall seeing like 2 or 3 my entire life. There was a black one in the town I grew up in. Used to see it around, often. Then, suddenly it was gone forever. Saw another one way down in deep south Jersey, round about 1960 or so. Farmer was selling fresh eggs out the back of it.... End of Del Rio saga for me.
