Hey fellas, Happy new year! So im finally getting around to my interior and was wondering if anybody knows a thing or two about the clock? Im sure its a common thing for them to stop working after a few years but I found a company that will convert it to a quartz functioning clock. Has anybody done this or know how to repair the original?

Is there a tutorial on cleaning clock?
Does anyone have a tutorial on how to clean the points and mechanism? is it so simple as maybe using canned air to blow out any dust dirt, and maybe spray a little silicone or dry graphite into the mechanism?
I just had one rebuilt a year ago and it just stopped working for some reason.....
No need to reply. I found an article in then technical library.

There is a thread on the VTCI forum about clock cleaning and getting them to work. I think it is in the 64 - 66 section, but the procedure should be about the same. I went with a battery operated quartz conversion because I always disconnect the car's 12v battery in my garage and now my clock is always correct and never needs resetting.Comment

Testing Clock
Hi guys:
How can I test my clock on a test bench? I know I can connect one lead, presumably RED from a 12v power supply. Where would I touch ground to complete the circuit?
I have a test clock I am playing with and trying to get to work before I try my clock in the car.
Any suggestions please?Geoff In Carlsbad

Quartz Clock Works Best
title says it all. I could make the original work "ok", but proved unreliable. It was great to learn how it all works, but in the end, biting the bullet for a quartz clock is the better answer. Luckily my original electric didn't cost me anything but time.
