    Lube speedo cable

    Good morning all,

In your opinion, what's the best stuff for lubricating the speedometer cable; I've heard/read graphite, WD-40, other light oil, etc.

I think almost anything works in a warm climate. In a colder climate I would stick to a graphite lube which is unaffected by temperature.

I've used graphite before and it seems to work well.
WD-40 tends to gum up over time so I avoid using it except for freeing stuck parts and some light cleaning. Gun oil isn't bad to use either.

But you can be so much happier being a Squarebird owner.

            You're absolutely right, Alexander!

You get to wear a really goofy silly-a$$ grin driving a square bird, like this... :7

If you do that riding your bike you end up having to scrape bugs off your teeth or else end up having to do this a lot... :9

I own two square birds, a 58 convertible Franklin Mint
and a 59 hardtop by Brooklin models. I am presently building
              a 58 by Monogram (old 1987 kit)
a lot less maintenance and repairs but still love to own one
