    this is a quiz....

I took this part off my '59 convertible but didn't tag it....my bad. It looks like a heat shield or splash shield to me but I've paged through the parts manual a didn't find it. I am sure some of the "moss-backs" out there will know immediately what this is and where it goes. Signed: the rookie....

I think that's the plate that goes between the transmission and the firewall on the drivers side.

Thank you all for the replies. Maybe someone has a picture of this thing in place where it lives? Again, I appreciate the help. Kim

This is the splash shield that goes under the linkage to the tranny kick down on the driver side. Not a common item as once the area was worked on they were thrown out.

I have one installed on a 58 and yes have a pic but currently out of town and may take a while to find.

Bolts are part of the engine/ tranny mounting system and can be figured like a jig saw puzzle.

            Good Luck

Thanks Fuz and everyone for the replies. I can probably figure this out now that I have some instructions. Maybe I won't need the picture. Thanks again for the help. Kim Mc

I'm going to tag along on this thread. So glad that I'm not the only one with extra parts and don't know where they go. I'll attach a pic of a bracket that I removed; cleaned; painted. I have no idea where it originally went. Thought maybe up the carburetor linkage area, but couldn't find a spot for it there. I also had the dash completely out, so it may have been a bracket under the dash. It may end up in the long term spare parts bin. ;-)
