    my61brd's '61 Bulletbird

I bought my Thunderbird in August of '07 and I'm slowly fixing the problems the previous owner neglected.
It's an "early" '61 (March 9) Raven Black/Red that has had one re-paint(p/o) and except for the dash pad, still has it's original interior.
    I'm also on the VTCI forums(same username)and the HAMB(61Tbird).

    Now for the pics...

This is after I lowered the front

Nice Ride, I especially like the Red & White interior.
Nice to see some under the hood shots as well.

The Interior trim was painted White long before I bought it and it's kinda grown on me.
For an under the hood shot...that won't happen until I clean up under there Think rattle can gold painted valve covers and air cleaner,a blue engine and at least 15 years of built up crud.
It's one of those "if I detail this part,it's ALL coming apart" deals.
As it is I drive it as much as possible, that way I don't feel bad about how "crusty" it is under the hood

David the " under the hood " shots can certainly wait until you make up your mind which way you want to go That's the beauty of owning these classics is you get to put your personal flair on it unless you are restoring period correct

          61' ...

Nice car Ray. Did you use dropped spindles or just cut the springs? I agree, it's tuff to do just a little work in a nasty engine compartment as one thing leads to another and soon the engine is on a stand with parts all over the shop. I usually try to get all the parts I'am going to need together, plan out all the changes I want to make and then have at it. Mike

I cut 1 1/4 coils off of a new set of springs.
I have yet to "bottom out" on the bumpstops. It still rides nice and handles well.

These "latest" pics are from the annual Strangers Car Club BBQ yesterday at San Jose History Park.

I arrived at 6:45am and ended up getting the BEST spot in the place...

                and playing around on p-bucket...

Nice Pix Dave! Did you happen to get any Tbirds grouped together? I am still looking for good group pictures for the 2010 calendar front cover. As ya'll are out this summer showing off your Tbirds, remember to send me pix, and especially, if you can corral a gaggle of Tbirds together for a group shot!

Wouldn't that be a flock of Thunderbirds

August 9th the Northwest Vintage Thunderbird Club is having a car show as part of the North Plains Elephant Garlic Festival. I've never been to it so dont know how many birds might be there. If I make it to the show I'll be looking for a group shot for ya Ray. The wife has been having medical issues so I am not making definate plans for things right now but she should be doing good by then.

                          Hi Victor,

First of all, I hope that your wife will be feeling much better quickly. Secondly, if you can, try to get the Tbird guys to flock together, if ya have a chance to do so. Anders gave us a great shot of a bunch of Tbirds flocked together in Sweden. I have been looking for more to choose from. I know that often times, Tbirders come and go on their own and not as a group. Maybe you will have a club there with all their Tbirds. When we, of the So. Texas Tbird Club go to events, we flock together like good little Tbirders, so people can get good pictures individually and of the whole flock!

I didn't...the '60 was pretty "rough" and the '63 has been "shaved" of all it's outside emblems.
What is the cut-off for submissions for the calender?

The Monterey Bay Classic Thunderbird Club is having the 12th annual Thunderbirds on the Wharf September 26th.
LOTS of great photo ops at that show!

I had not really thought about a cut off yet, but since you asked, I think I will establish 1 November as the cutoff for submissions. That gives me one and a half months to get the final selections made, the calendar created, then printed and mailed out in time to get them to ya'll before Christmas. I know that some of you give them as Christmas presents.

The competition is going to be keen as ever as I now have over 20 Tbirds to consider. First consideration goes to those whose cars were not selected last year. As I said, the one thing I am lacking is several good different group pictures to choose from. I thought the group picture that was used on the 2009 calendar from Anders was excellent..
