    top motor fluid, "happy holidays"

    hi
I have a 1960 conv and have been running AT fluid in the top motor because of leaking lines earlier. From what i have read it should have brake fluid instead but because of the paint removing qualities of brake fluid i use the trans fluid. It has worked fine with the exception of 1 time when a valve stuck and i had to tap on it. What is everyone else using and why?
    thanks

    hi Eric

First I should tell you I know nothing about convertible
    tops or mechanisms.

What I do know that may be of interest pertains to brake fluid.
Assuming brake fluid is appropriate, you might consider DOT 5.

There are two reasons for this:

    1) it does not harm paint as DOT 3 and 4 do
    2) it does not absorb moisture so it is better for the
metal components of your system that it comes in
    contact with.

If you do opt for it, you must completely flush and remove all
the old DOT 3 as they cannot be mixed. It is available at many
    auto parts stores.

    good luck!
