Rear vent removal - help please!

I am taking out the rear 'shelf' on my '66 Landau to re-paint it, I've undone all the screws I can find but the 'grille' centre section does not seem to want to come lose - and it looks like it should come out first before the side bits that run forward towards the door openings.

Is there anything else to undo - i.e. bolts inside the trunk or something??

    Hope you guys can help.

    Bump.

    Anybody able to help?
The workshop manual is no real help, simply says 'remove rear tray'.

My 59 Bird has 3 bolts you have to get to from the truck.

          Hi ya scumdog

I know yours is quite different, however I had the same problem with my '62's parcel tray. I undid all the fasteners and it still wouldn't budge. I asked the question and the extremely knowledgable Alan Tast suggested that the rear edge of the parcel shelf sometimes gets caught in the rear window rubber/sealer, and some carefull pulling and wiggling should release it. I haven't had another lash at it yet as the door openingas are all masked off and I can't get inide it.

Thanks Alistair - it seems like the rear of my tray is stuck on the rear-window rubber - which seems to have copious quantities of urathane sealer on it.
I had such a job removing the top window surround that I'm worried I'll damage the parcel tray getting it out, I'm considering air-brushing it in place.
