Bought a new thermostat to put in my 1962 390 motor and have a quick question. I bought a gasket kit for the motor and installed the gasket that goes on the expansion tank, but I also recieved a gasket for the thermostat when I bought it. When I install the thermostat on the intake manifold does it just sit against the manifold and the gasket on the expansion tank sits against the thermostat? Does the thermostat require a gasket on both sides of the thermostat (one on expansion tank and one on intake manifold) or does the thermostat just sit against manifold and gasket on the expansion tank makes the seal?

The thermostat sits in the recess in the expansion tank and the gasket goes over it. Only one gasket is used.
