'58 Spare Tire Cover source needed

I apologize for this not being especially technical...

I bought a trunk kit from Mac's in 2005. It matched the original material perfectly and fit very well.

After seeing some photos of other trunks, I realized a spare tire cover would really improve the appearance of things. I finally called Mac's recently and ordered one. They told me they were not sure of the color match but that I could return it if I was not happy.

I got it today. The coloring is off but I also found that the pattern does not match - the one I got today is an enlarged copy of the original. So I am going to send it back and start over.

Basic question: does anyone have a vendor that they like for the reproduction of the trunk kit??

The trunk is otherwise nice - I made an oak toolbox to hide the tools, and the rest of the upholstery looks fine.

    thanks!

    Hey John,
Are you wanting to replace the whole set or just the spare tire cover?

I'm just trying to get a cover. I replaced the rest of it in 2005.

        Hey John,
Concours Parts, Larry's Thunderbird and Mustang Parts and Pat Wilson's Thunderbird all have spare tire covers.
Is there anyway you cut a piece off your trunk mat or side boards and send it to them to match it up?

That would be easy as I kept the original material when I removed it from the trunk...

Concour's on-line catalogue lists one (58-9) but no photo so I guess I will try contacting them and maybe mail a chunk. Wilson's on-line catalogue ...well...leaves something to be desired.

John as an alternative to the matching cover, I ordered some specially made covers from BobM for both the 58 & the 60. Bob's daughter's make the covers by their company ( mine are black and have the cars nicknames Maggie & Max embroidered in white. They are actually quite nice and dress up the trunk area very nicely. There was a thread and some posts last year or fall of 08, if you want to read. Concours there not but ???????
