Does anyone know how many 1960 Hardtops were produced with the 430 engine. Is there a Marti report available for 1960, their website only list reports available for model year 1967 on. Does anybody else do a similiar report.

RE: Production Figures for 1960?
80,983 Hard Tops were made for 1960. Ford did not release a breakdown of the options produced. Only about 10% of the cars had the 430 engine. That is why it was no longer offered in 1961.
I will look at home to see if any of my reference books gives a more exact breakdown for 1960.

RE: Production Figures for 1960?
I asked John from the TBird Registry the question and got an answer comparable to Alexander's estimate. His reply is below:
" Hello John
The only number I have is that of the 2,536 Sun Roof cars, 377 had the 430
engine. I have never been able to fully document how either of these two
numbers have been ascertained, but I see it published in many places. The
only thing I can guess is that Lois Eminger tallied this because she owned
all of the gate releases.
I think that ratio of about 1 to 8 is a fair estimate to apply to the
regular Hardtop and Convertible models. It is true that we can document a
higher ratio today but that is because the 430 engine soon became judged to
be more desirable than a 352 and therefore had a higher survival rate.
There were something like 92,800 Thunderbirds built for 1960, I think it is
safe to assume that 11,000 to 12,000 had the 430 engine.
John"

RE: Production Figures for 1960?
Thanks for the replys-I can tell I'm going to like this site alot. I just got my 1960 one week ago. It is in the garage beside my wife' 56 Bird. I have always loved the Squarebirds and finally got enough bills paid that we could be a "TWO BIRD" family. Hope to learn alot here.
