Placard on air filter

Just wanted to put the "interceptor"
placard on top of the air filter. There is only a lifted marking in the metal at the exact spot where the placard should go. I can´t believe that the placard should go over the marking, it would never fit right. How did you guys solve this?

Where are you putting it. It should be on the back of the air cleaner. I don't think there's any raised mark there.

Yes, that's exactly the place I want to put it, opposite of the text "front". The filter housing looks exactly the same, only there is a (small) raised marking on that exact spot.

Can you post a picture of your air cleaner. I don't see any raised mark on mine.

I just looked at mine, which looks just like the one in the picture, except mine is chromed. There are NO raised marks on any of the spaces between the bars. Mine are all flat between the bars. Just like the pic that John posted.

Frank has sent me these pictures of his '58 air cleaner. There are some oddities that I see that I'm not familiar with. It appears that the air inlet is not oriented correctly compared to where the "Front" mark is. I also see what he's saying about the raised mark being in the back instead of on the side. I forwarded these to Carl Heller to see if he had any ideas.

When I went out to look at my air cleaner yesterday, I did not see that stamping on mine. But I was looking at the rear of the air cleaner. Today, I went out again and looked all over that unit and find that stamping. However, mine is not on the rear of the unit, opposite the FRONT stamping. Mine is off on the passenger side of the air cleaner. I have never noticed this stamping before until Frank brought this up. Here are pix of what mine looks like.

That is the vacuum "tomato" can. I am aware that some Squarebirds do not have it. Whether or not it is OEM, I do not know. I know it was on the car when I bought it. Perhaps jopizz or Carl ~ partsetal can comment on it.

Can you post a picture of your air cleaner. I don't see any raised mark on mine.

My '58 is the same as yours Ray, on the right side . Also, at the back, mine has that flat spot like yours where the decal would go just in front of it .

I think that I will try to put the housing on turned a bit, so that the front marking points a bit to the side. That way the placard can stay in the center. I know that the housing can be turned a bit before touching anything.
