I suggest putting a flat washer under the head of that 9/16" bolt. Scarebird used a bushing that is welded to the bracket so a washer will hold the assembly to your spindle better. - Dave

I took Dave's advice and got some washers. It was a very simple conversion and would suggest it to anyone. However the stock bird wheels wont clear the calipers.Comment

That's right, stock wheels were not formed to fit around calipers. Look for wheels that WERE formed for cars that came with calipers.
Many 14" Ford wheels will fit but aftermarket wheels will too. That info is in our 'brake conversion' threads. - DaveMember, Sons of the American Revolution

I don't know of any plans of it being in a magazine.Comment

Keith hope you are keeping a digital photo diary ( photo binder at least ) of the restoration from the beginning. It certainly gives a better understanding to those who see it of the effort and steps taken in this.Dano Calgary,Alberta Canada

Hello Dan,
Between the owner and myself we have a very good photo archive.
The owner says he will put together a book, I believe it is something that apple/mac users have access to.Comment

Anyone looking for bird parts? I have been given the ok to sell off the parts not being used.
All parts are off of the 59' bird I am currently working on.

Needed to finish up the metal work around the windshield. The windshield wiper panel/cowl panel and the 2 side cowl panels.
We set the original side pieces on. Need new ones.Last edited by keith; May 29, 2017, 06:34 AM.Comment
