Ah, you filled up? That must have hurt your wallet!
Petrol prices today are insane and out of control, its a bloody shame they are getting away with hi-way robbery!
Enough ranting - thanks for the picture of a thousand words!Comment

Hi Marco!
Thanks for posting that absolutely stunning shot of your '58 Tbird... That is a beautiful car and like others, I wish that Ford had continued the use of the Opera Window in the Squarebirds. I think it makes them look so distinctive, but someone in Design had other ideas. I think it goes back to they did not want to copy the Baby Birds to much.. Wanted to keep that a distinctive feature of them..

It hurts when you think about it, but the joy and great feeling' you'll experience afterwards when driving, is worth every robbery! (Paid about $5.68 a gallon yesterday, it's beyond robbery in my opinion).

You would need to find a wrecked or rusted & gone Squarebird, then have the top cut off & modded to make a removable hardtop for your Bird. Then buy all the 1957 porthole window parts & have them fabricated to fit that hardtop....

Hi Sal,
And what Jon told you below is the other way of doing it that I did not tell you in the PM. It can be done that way, too.. In fact, that might be the only way of doing it, if the other tops do not match up...

Hi Cathie,
Sal owns a '60 Convertible... It is the car of the month for July in the 2009 Squarebirds calendar.. He is thinking of adding a bubble top to it, ala the Babybirds, or the newer Tbirds. So he is going to check into the bottom sizes of both to see if either one might be adaptable to a '60 Squarebird. If not, then the other thing is doing what was suggested below. Finding a good top to chop, modify and mate to his convertible so he can put it on and take it off when he wants to. It has been done before, but maybe only once or twice. We have a picture of it one the Forum somewhere. It is in Anything Goes, I think.
Here is his beautiful Tbird with the Tonneau package in place.Attached FilesLast edited by YellowRose; July 28, 2009, 05:30 PM.

Here is that '58 that was modified into a convertible, along with the detachable roof to the left of it. This roof did NOT have a port hole in it, but if someone can modify a HT roof and make it fit and latch onto a convertible, someone certainly can add port holes to it. This picture came from Alexander, who saw it on display some years ago.Attached Files

Yes, Sal owns that beautiful red '60 Convertible, and has for some time. I would not say he wants to "muck" around with it though! He wants to add a hardtop to it, if possible, with a port hole, like they used to have for the Babybirds and the newer Birds. He wants to be able to put it on, when he wants to, unclamp it, and take it off when he wants to. It can be done, and has been done, but not very often.
