I agree with Richard. People love to see a beautiful job, especially on a great classic car. Together, they are stunning.

Interior Work On Rose Is About Done

It has been awhile since I have posted anything about the work being completed on YellowRose. She is nearly finished, as far as the interior goes. Danny has been working on different things toward getting her completed. I wont go into a lot of details here. You can read about the specialist he called in to fix the splits in my dash pad and see the before and after results. Danny still has some minor things to do. He has been catching up some of his other work as we waited for parts to come in. The door mechanism that I got from Eddie's parts car has fixed my drivers door problem. The spring in the mechanism in my door was broken. It is no more! We are brainstorming the work in the trunk, though I already pretty well know what I want. Click on the link below to see what you think about the job Shawn did on patching my dashpad...

Ray I am speechless, as I follow your site and pixs about the restoration of Rose. You are a patience man ( now pushing three (3) months ) and the finished result will certainly be worth it. I am also confident that your local chapterm is waiting to see the completed Rose when she finally pulls up.

          Dash ...

Looks great. Allways nice to see something done the way it should. I need to find someone in my neck of the woods (NW Colo.) to fix a few small cracks in my 66' F-250 dash pad. Mike

Hi Mike and Dan, Thanks much for the nice comments. Mike, I will call Shawn in the morning and see if he knows anyone in your part of the woods that might be a good dash pad guy to contact. You never know. He might know someone or give me some ideas as to who you might contact there to find someone. I will get back with you.

Interior Work On Rose Is About Done

              Hi Mike,

I called Shawn and he said there used to be an association of people who did dash, leather, interiors, repairs, but it seems to have fallen apart. He mentioned CCI-Creative Colors International. So I went to their website. The only office they have in the whole state of Colorado is in North Denver. Here is the information on it. Of course, I have no idea how good they might be. Shawn is going to call his suppliers and see if they can recommend others in the Colorado area that you might be able to contact. I will get back with you if he comes up with others.

Interior Work On Rose Is About Done

Danny is putting the finishing touches on the interior. Yesterday, he was finishing up working on my floor mats. He also put in new seat belts for me. He is doing paint clean up also, and a few other things. He is almost done. There are a few more pix I will put up about something he is putting the finishing touches to. I am replacing the turn signal shaft as it is pretty beat up. A new one is coming in from Bird Nest. That is just a matter of unscrewing the old one and screwing in the new one. You will see new pix if you click on the link below...

I had whined to Ray about the black seat belts, suggested going with white, and offered to make covers out of clear vinyl for them...but he had Danny do the covers instead
I dunno about those floor mats though, they look pretty plain, hows about a copy of the rose embroidered onto them ?

Interior Work On Rose Is About Done

Cathie, you are gonna get me killed!!! You are about a day late or two with your suggestion that we put the yellow rose in the center of the white floor mats! What a terrific idea and how sharp that would look! I wish I had thought about it. I do not know if A1 Sports who did those roses, will be able to embroidery those roses into that floor mat. I am about half afraid to suggest this to Danny, but maybe he might be able to un-sew that plastic, slip the floor mats out and give it a try. I suspect that he will probably say the same thing I just did. "Why didnt I think about that!?" I think I will suggest it and see what he says.

Now, you just let the cat out of the bag about those seat belt covers! I was not going to say anything until I posted the pictures, probably later on today. Danny got one belt done before he ran out of plastic and white velcro. He should be back at it today if his supplies came in. Yes, Cathie offered to make the clear plastic covers for me, which was a great idea. However, Danny was at the point where he wanted to finish off the car so we can get on to the trunk. So I decided to have Danny do them. However, he got sidetracked for lack of material, and also had to concentrate on some other work that had to be out to the customer. So he had to put my seat belts aside for a few days. It was VERY much appreciated that Cathie offered to do them for me. I will post the pictures when he is done. This was a very good idea that Cathie had because the clear plastic covers the white seat belts from top to bottom, held in place by white velcro on the back side... BTW, I am still waiting for Shawn to get back to me regarding contacts in the Colorado area for dash pad repairs.

LOL - OK here's an easier idea.... the joint that made the roses? have them make two for just the front area, a little bigger than the seat ones, you can get double sided clear tape, or Danny can probably come up with a decent clear drying glue, and stick them to the under side of the clear covers - if they were sewn to the clear covers, the material would be compromised, and loose its effectiveness.
I think the rear floor mats would be OK to leave plain, although the same idea could apply, only with the same size rose as is on the seats...

Oops on the seat belt covers, but I am a little sulky I couldn't do them, LOL

Interior Work On Rose Is About Done

                            Hi Cathie,

Thanks for the additional ideas! I am about to leave to visit Danny. I will probably tell him of your idea about the floor mats and see if he decks me or not for adding more work to this project. Those roses do not come cheap.. Yes, I think the front set would do the trick.

I really was looking forward to you doing the seat belt covers for me until I got pressed for time... So I thought.. As it turned out, he did not get to this project as quickly as he thought he would. My Tbird is not his only business. You would be surprised at the work he and his side kick, and his wife, have turned out since my bird has been in there! Luckily, he has a lot of other business. Since I have been going there, I have seen them do chair recovering and reconstruction, motorcycle seats, repairs on several car interiors, some I have posted pix about, and another full interior restoration is going on in another car behind mine! It is being done in white and blue ostrich covers...

I hope you live close enough to get some pix of that white and blue ostrich resto - sounds intriguing!

I can imagine they do a lot of business, talent is not easily come across, and these two have PLENTY!
I am green with envy and jealously

an even easier thought just came to mind...he could remove the clear covers, and spray paint an outline of the rose onto the clear cover, he can decide under or on top, depending on material or method of application....

And while I am on the subject of suggestions...LOL
for the trunk...thinking along the lines of as PLAIN as you can get, LOL - by this viewing point in time, folks are going to be over-whelmed with the color and flash
                              Picture this:
                              Black borders
A centered block of Yellow and White squares - kinda like the original grey and black trunk interior - only the yellow and black actually form a TRUE checker board!
Your playing pieces can be bought or made, to have handy at the S and S's!
( the rest of the trunk detailing will fall into place I hope, since I don't have a clue right now, just picturing you beating everyone at checkers, LOL )

Interior Work On Rose Is About Done

I can get you pix of the blue and white ostrich door panels and seats that they are working on. They are all over the place in there. Seats sitting in one area, door panels being worked on by Danny. I dont know if it is real ostrich, but it looks like it.

As for the roses, I will see how the test comes out. If it does not come out well on the white carpet material, we will have to think of something else. I will keep your suggestions in mind.

As for the trunk, thanks for the suggestions. I have the trunk layout already laid out in my mind. I know exactly what I want to do with it. I am not planning on playing checkers in the trunk! But thanks for the idea.
