    New Diamond back tires on

Just some FYI, Installed the new diamond back wide whitewall radial tires this week, don't have a picture for you yet but soon. They look great, are very smooth riding and the whitewalls look great. I like them much better than the Cokers that we replaced.

Welcome to the club, I hope they work as well for you as they have for me so far..

I was going to go Diamond Back as well, but I called them last week. They do NOT sell a P225/75R14 WW radial anymore...?

Oh well, I need the look of the 8.50 X 14", as that is what came on all 430cid Bird's with AC.

Which size did u go with, the P215/75R14?

        Jon:

I'd also like to change to radial wide WW that give 8.50 X 14 in the future. If you find something, let me know.

Is the P225/75R14 the closest to the 8.50 X14 ? -- Coker is the only one that I see has that.

        Thanks

Yes. 225/75R14 or 235/70R14 is the closest we can get to the H78 or 8.50 x 14" Bart, I have never seen a manufacturer of the later size though...

The Coker Classic P225/75R14 is a Bias-Ply tire too, it is however, very close to the original 1950's mold.

            Jon:

The Coker Classic P225/75R14 is a 'Radial Tire", isn't it?

They have it listed as Radial.

I'm sorry, ur right again Bart. I've been looking at tires so much lately I guess my mind is all garbled up?

Coker offers a steel belted radial and a bias-ply 2 1/2" WW in the Classic series.

Thanks Bart. $191 a tire + shipping 4 tires is a little rich for my blood right now though.....

Oh yes --- the price is too high for me to consider unless I win the Texas Lottery.

They are proud of em huh?
The ones I was looking at were just BFG T/A tread, with the whitewall. I can buy T/A's all day long for $80 a pc.
                  $191 ??!! They're on drugs.

They are 215/75-14, I wanted the 225 but same story, not made. The tires look very nice on the car, but I agree the price was up there. With the price of oil these days, I am sure it won't get any better!

What kind of BFG's are we talking about John, WW Radials?

The Coker's I looked at were just T/A tread. The old pattern.

BFG makes (regular W/W tires, 1" maybe)

I'd like to see those diamond backs. I'm not crazy about wide white's, but if you're goin for the original look.

After seeing Rusty's 65, I've thought about W/W's on a more retro-rod wheel. That's why I'd like to see pics of that 60 with the 57 style center caps.

Here is a picture of the Gold Bird from todays drive, the DB tires are very smooth and don't make much noise. This is what I have been working all winter for, a drive with the top down!

You have spent your winter wisely. That is beautiful. I love the wide whitewalls (my Penelope has them as well) and think that they just top off "the look". That car is rolling art.

What a thing of beauty she is! Those WW tires really set her off! She is a keeper for sure! I bet she really gets the stares, smiles and thumbs up when you go by in her!
