    Transmission Seals

I have a 64 Thunderbird with a Cruise o Matic gearbox and I need to get a couple of seals for it. If anyone knows the part number for the shift selector shaft seal and the extension housing seal (if any) could you let me know and I will attempt to get them in Australia first. I have looked at a couple of web sites and found numbers but I am not sure if these are the correct Ford numbers or just company part numbers if you know what I mean.

    Thanks Phil

The FORD PN will most likely not help you. You should have the ASSEMBLY TAG I.D. NO. to positively ID the trans.

I can give you sources for the seals, but this guy- http://www.broaderperformance.com/ -is the guru on this series trans.

If he can't help you, post back and I will give you some parts houses that specialize in older trans.

      Thanks Kultulz

I had problems with my post and after writing it several time have omitted that the transmission is a PCE-AT-MX (possible digit missing here) but thanks for the help I will try the guru.

      Cheers

And I mis-read your post desiring AU sourced parts only...

Hopefully, someone can help you source the seals there.

          Hi Kultulz

Your guru pointed me in the direction of Fatsco. They have a seal kit at a cost of $52 and $52 postage (FOR A SEAL KIT) What the? Anyway I think I'll keep looking. Anyone know which parts people might have seal kits for an MX transmission.

          Thanks Phil

The problem is finding the seals in OZ.

There has to be a source down there.

Here are the seals separately- http://www.charlietranny.com/Fordomatic%20seals.htm

Are there (has to be ) tranny shops down there? They should be able to get them. I will give you the FORD PN if wanted.

              Transmission Seals

Gary ~ KULTULZ sent me a graphic showing the transmission seals for a '60 Squarebird, and also for a '64 Tbird. You will find it here in the TRL.

                Hi Kultulz

The Ford part number would help if you have them. Yes there are transmission places around and I'm sure one of them could get the part if I had the numbers. The problem with a lot of these tranny places is if it's out of the ordinary then they don't want to help you find what you are looking for. There was I think a cruise o matic gearbox used by Ford here in the mid sixties but I'm not 100% sure of this or if it was the same box. I've finally got some days off work and I can start looking into it.
                Thanks for your help.

                Phil
