    Heater valve rebuild

    Hi!

I'm new in this forum. I just thought I might post this here.

My 1960 had heater core disconnected when I got the car. Took it apart and found the valvetubing is gone. I have a thermostat in the valve (strange, because there's no AC).

I wanted to keep the part, so I ordered new seal (replacement partnumber for NAPA found at this site )

Then I contacted a machinist/welder, who was able to construct a whole new pipe out of stainless steel. New core, seal and heat is on!

EDIT: I tried to link dropbox-link here, doesn't seem to work?

    Heater valve rebuild

Hi Petri, for whatever reason, I am not seeing your DropBox picture on the Forum. I have an X instead. If I go into edit and look at your link and bring it up, I can see the picture. Let me post it for you.

Thanks! The old valve is on top, and the new shiny piece below.

That's a solution for those that want to keep the original style valve. It does look expensive.

Your friend could make a "killing" selling those stainless steel original style valves!!

            Great work!!

Yes, my friend did this. He's a true professional (welds piping for brainscanners....). I paid this with deer ribs

Maybe, if someone needs one, I can ask him to fabricate some more?

My 60Bird is in the restoration shop. I just had the original control valve rebuilt for the same price as a reproduction from the Tbird supply houses. It was a week turnaround to get it done. I can post the name of the guy who did the work if folks are interested
