    60 Trunk Emblem Question

I need to repaint the trunk lock emblem (and the others) on my 60 HT.

Does anyone have a photo of one showing the proper Red and Turquoise colors?

I think that the EYE, and V's on the top part are red, and that the lower inverted Vee (^) on the bottom are turquoise. Is that right?

    Thanks

I bought Pin-striping paint, called: Sign Painters 1 shot Paint Peinture Lettering Enamel, 149-L Aqua ( Turquose ) and 104-L Bright Red and it´s a dead match. Works right on metal as well. It covers already on the first layer.

Just Google: Sign Painters 1 shot Paint Peinture Lettering Enamel, and you will have nearly 100 hits.

As the ´60 emblem is different to the ´58-´59, shown by John, I´m not sure how the ´60 should be painted.

Thanks for the photo John. That shows me the colors.

I have a 60 that has the wide T-Bird emblem.

Does anyone have a photo of a finished 60 trunk emblem?

I forgot to say -- this is the Turquoise that Alexander used.

              Trunk Emblem Question

              Hi Bart,

I am not sure that the '60 Tbird trunk or hood emblem, or side emblems were painted. The only colored picture I could find was in one of the Tbird parts houses catalog. I cannot tell if there is red paint in the eye, and those three V marks or not. I think there might have been, but you cannot tell from this picture... I sure dont see any turqouise on it anywhere though, unlike the '58-59. I was looking at the '59 sample, and I dont see any red paint in the eye of that one. But I painted the eye on mine red, because it looked like I could see a tinge of red paint left in it when I went to paint mine...

Bart I went out to look at my trunk assembly bird and it is the same as TChicken's, just plain.( I believe it is the original one ) If I recall after seeing some at our S&S last weekend, most were plain but a couple had the red eye. I guess it's your choice!!!

It seems that the answer to my own question was in the spare parts box in my garage all of the time.

I found these two original untouched set of side roof emblems that were given to me when I bought the car.

You can see, on both of them, that the eye and marks below the eye are Red, while the V marks on the lower tail of the bird are Turquoise.

Maybe someone can put this on the technical section somewhere. It's not in the OFS.

I'll post a completed photo of the trunk lock when I get it done.

Maybe Alan will wander by this post and comment on this.

                    Thanks

                      Bart,

My '60 truck lock bird has the red paint in the upper half still, but no lower torquise. I guess it has faded away over the years....

Here is the link for the red color "Insignia Red" from Tower Hobbies.

It dries darker than it looks on the web page, and is a perfect match to what I had on the emblem.

                          Completed Trunk Emblem

Here's a photo of the completed 60 HT trunk emblem using the Testors Insignia Red and Turquoise.

By the way, if the two springs inside of the slide lock are weak, or missing, you can use two ball point pen springs. Stretch the springs to get the length that you need to keep the slide lock in the up position.

Bart that looks fantastic and really dress's up the rear lock assembly. Now I have another project over the winter, as it really looks great.
