    61 Tail Light Placement

    Hi
I am trying to replace my tail lights for my 61 Thunderbird.
The previous owner put 63 tail lights on my car. I have the pieces to convert it back to the proper lights, bucket, etc. but I don't know exactly the order they go in, as I have been piecing these together and don't have one that was all together.
Also, the main bracket that holds the bucket doesn't seem to fit in. Do I have to remove the "Q" in order to get things back in place?
Does anyone have an easy to read exploded view? The one in the parts catalogs are difficult for me to read!
    Thanks for your help!

Here's an exploded view. I'm sorry, but it is straight out of the parts catalog. I think it is straight forward. If you need further details, ask again:

      Thank you!

This is a more detailed view than the other parts catalogs. It seems they've eliminated the main bracket from the current exploded views. This helps a lot!
      Thanks again!

        Light Assembly

Does the "Q" need to be removed to place the assembly?
I have a '61 with '63 taillights and the bucket screws right in, there is no back bracket (Part #13A480) in your diagram.
Does that back bracket attach in the inside of the trunk, or to the "Q"?
        Thanks!
        Joe

Sometimes I can be thick Joe, but I don't understand your question.

13A480 appears in the drawing as the very first component in the 'stack'. It also appears to be mounted inside the trunk.

          What is a "Q"?
You say, "It seems they've eliminated the main bracket from the current exploded views." Which part number are you referring to?

And sometimes I don't make myself clear!
The "Q" is the big round piece of chrome that goes around the tail light. It's often referred to as a "Q" because with it's little tail extension on the bottom, it looks like the letter "Q"
Part #13A480 is what I called the main bracket. Upon closer examination I noticed it's not eliminated from the current exploded views. oops!

I don't believe you need to remove the "Q" to put it all together.
If you need help,I can take some pics of mine for you.

First of all, you have a beauty!
I have the tail light bucket, etc all cleaned and assembled, but I can't figure out how to get it attached to the car. From the looks of it, I would need to remove the whole bumper to get the rear bracket #13A480 in. The rear bracket doesn't seem to fit in unless it goes in from behind. Could you please take an interior trunk pic of your taillight? Thanks!
