'58 Rear Suspension Bushings

Initially, I was planning on completely changing my rear suspension but have since decided to try to stay as close to stock as possible.

Here's the catch: The *only* place I can find a bushing set(all 20 pieces) for the rear end is a place in Mississippi selling a NOS set for $750.00.

I suppose that's ok, but ...

1. I'm a tad afraid of rubber NOS parts (especially in this case) as they could be dry rotted just from sitting on the shelf.

2. I'd really like a set of polyurethene bushings rather then rubber.

And 3. When I get to the front end, I'd like to do the same (polyurethene).

Does anyone know where I might be able to get what I want for my Bird's suspension?

I know one of the t-Bird suppliers has the bushings new at a much cheaper price. I came across it about a week ago. I forget which one though.

Also try Katner Automotive parts on the net.
They carry a wide range of bushings and suspension rebuild kits. I bought a front end kit form them for my '60 Bird and it was perfect...and the price was right.

The wife won't mind that one anywhere near as much after I initally told her $750.00. She already thinks Cassandra is a money pit.

Last time I looked there, I couldn't find anything. Couldn't this time either. Then I checked "New Products."

I see they split them into two pieces -- Definite plus for ease of installation.

Urethane bushings? Cool!

What was the damage (cost)?
