I have been thinking about the set up you talked about with only the outside lenses work for the brake lights and the turn signals. If my memory serves me right this is one of the configurations used for 58.
But we all know that with age the memory seems to go.

I am in Wi. now and took me a while to find the write up I did on the 58 lighting system.
