Power Booster Exchange Inc. from Portland? Good price, seemed to know what he was talking about. $150 part and 100 core. That is less than the part alone at most I have talked to.

Did he perhaps not prime the oil pump before

Starting it? My understanding is that foul lead to that issue as well as damaging the crank. Not sure if all engines do that or not, since I am really only starting to learn these FE beasts....guy...
