Headlight knob stem coming out!
As I pull the headlight knob out, the parking lights come on but the headlights don't, and the knob stem comes all the way out. I can push it back in to get the parking lights off but I can't get the lights to come on. Do I need a new headlight switch or a new knob stem?

Check the end of the shaft. It should have a notch in it. If it does then the button that releases it may be stuck in the "IN" position. There's a spring loaded push button near the center of the switch that releases the shaft. You can see it in the picture.

I had a similiar situation and kept playing around with it. I found I did not have the bezel that holds the headlight switch to the dash panel, really tight. I think the knob would insert far enough to fully engage. I tightened the bezel and inserted the knob and all was good.

Good point, Nyles. I never ran into that because I use a proper bezel tool. The tool works on all your dash bezels and it prevents home made tools from screwing up your paint job.
