Frank - Thunderdownunder, is looking for a pair of "panel lifters". Anyone know where he can find them? I suggested he contact the companies listed in this Forum who have parts for their cars with Golde Tops. Like BMW, Porche, VW. Here is what Frank had to say.

"Ray, would you know off hand who would have the sunroof "panel lifters" I have a pic of it, as you turn the handle to open the panel drops as to slide, the when slide close you turn the handle and the panel will lift shut, I have on one on the drivers side that is bent, thus not lifting to full close, would you know where I could buy a pair from?"

Here is that part that Frank sent me a picture of that he is looking for.

There is another OLD, OLD VTCI SCOOP article about this, making/refabing your own replacement..... :o

Thanks, Jon, do you know or anyone know which year and issue? If anyone has it, could you scan it and send me the article? That would be a great addition to the TRL, since parts for the Golde Top are hard to come by.

Is he looking for the whole unit or just the supports. Paul Willson has a set on Ebay. Here's the link.

Hi John,

I think he is looking for the whole unit, but I will bring this to his attention. Thanks!

I think I was wrong about Frank needing the whole set. I think it was just the lifters that were for sale and in that picture. I see they are no longer available. It did not say they were sold, but I guess they were. I also see that he said he had them made from brass. Here is that picture from the ad and I gather it is just these "lifters" that Frank needs. Maybe he can take his good one and have someone make him a set from that one.

Ray the VTIC article was printed in the March-April 1992 issue. Pages 24-25. It was written by Leo Gravelle.

I don't have a scanner anymore but I have access to a fax machine if that helps.

Hi Jon, I have an All In One printer, but have never used it as a fax machine. If your fax machine can send fax's as .jpg files, that might do the trick. You could send me page of that article as a test and see if I can get it okay, and I can let you know.

Ok. PM me your # Ray.

Wasn't there like 2 more old VTCI articles, in different threads, I was supposed to get back with you on??

Maybe decoding the 1958-60 ROT's or maybe decoding the FoMoCo side door glass on the 1958-60's???

Hi Jon,

My number is 210-674-5781, as in my signature element. As for Squarebird ROT information, I think I have that pretty well covered. The glass information, no, not that I can think of.
