    Fuel guage

Fuel guage just went out, As always ill start with the basics like the float then the ground etc etc but I hear this is a common thing on the older thunderbirds? Is there any recommendations or stories from you fellow bird owners that could shed a little more light on this area? thanks

    RE: Fuel guage

Does your temperature gauge still work? If it does and reads normally, your instrument voltage regulator is probably okay. The gauges are bi-metallic unit with a coil of wire wrapped around it. Sometimes this wire burns out.

The other possibilities are that the fuel sender unit is inoperative or improperly grounded. Replacements are available. The float on the sending unit can fail and fill with gas.

You also may have a bad connection or short in the wire form the sending unit to the gauge.
