    Simple Cubic Inch Displacement Formula I use.

    Try it.

    .7854 is a constant and is just 1/4 of pi
    inches in decimal.

    Cubic Inches = bore X bore X .7854 X stroke X NOC (Number of cylinders)

    An even easier formula is pi (3.14) X half the bore squared X stroke X number of cylinders. IE... pi x r (radius squared ) gives circle area, X height (stroke) gives volume of cylinder, then X # of cylinders. On second thought my way sounds more complicated but since I already typed it I`m posting it anyway :-)

      you are fine....

      the volume of a cylinder is Pi*r^2*h where r is the radius and h is the height.

      For a car these translate into: r is half of the bore and h is the stroke.

      When you square r, you are then squaring bore/2 which becomes bore^2/4.

      For 8 cylinders you then have

      Pi*bore^2/4*stroke*8

      or, rearranging, (Pi/4)*bore^2*stroke*8.

      For the Ford 352 you have a bore of 4.00 and a stroke of 3.5 you get 351.858 cubic inches.
