    58-60 Convertible Tonneau Cover

Anyone ever see a fiberglass Tonneau cover for 58-60 birds? Anyone still make them? There is one on a car on Ebay this week. I've only seen them on customs in the past.

    58-60 Convertible Tonneau Cover

Hi Derik, yes I have seen tonneau covers on Squarebirds before. I am not sure they are made of fiberglass, but probably are. I will have to do some research to see if anyone is still making them, but they do come up from time to time.

I found this information which is supposed to be in Hemmings August, 2014 Ads section.

    1955-1966 Ford Thunderbird Tonneau covers
    Location: Dania Beach,FL

Description: TONNEAU covers, 1955-66 T-Birds, 1962, $699 (fiberglass roadster type, aftermarket), includes hardware. PH: 954-328-1211, FL.

Pat Wilson also lists tonneau covers from 1958-1966. Here is the link.

    http://www.wilsontbird.com/search_re...+cover&button=

You might check with the other Tbird parts houses listed in the Advertisements Forum to see of others also sell them.

Hi Derek - Do you still have that ebay item number? I tried to find the car you are talking about but I didn't find it. I've never seen a sq bird with the tonneau set-up. Thanks,

Del, one of the best examples of a Squarebird with a tonneau cover in place is this 1960 red Squarebird Convertible owned by Sal Scheri, and now owned by his son of the same name, after Sal's passing. I picked it as the Car Of The Month of July, 2009 in the Squarebirds.org Calendar.

Also, here is George Bahto's 1960 430MEL Convertible with Tonneau cover in the second pic.. 2011 Car Of The Month of July, 2011.

Speaking of the calendar, if you have not taken your Tbird out to get some good glamour pix to submit for consideration for the 2015 Calendar, you might want to do that while the weather is still good. The camera should be set to at least 3000pixels, or 3MP or greater. I am always looking for good Bulletbird and Flairbird pix, plus group pix of Tbirds at a Show & Shine for consideration for the front page.

Here is the pic and I have a lot more of this gorgeous Squarebird.

I have a repop 61-63-style tonneau cover for sale that was modified for use in a 64-66 by adding a dip in the rear for the trunk profile and cutting out a little above the center to clear the console. I was going to use it on a '60 project that never materialized. I'd rather see it go to someone who is willing to adapt it to a Squarebird. I'll place an ad in the Classified section for it - will sell for half of the cost of a new one.

Hey Derik, I bought the '64-'66 tonneau for my '59 convertible bird at Pat Wilson's for $800 two years ago. I bought this tonneau version because I like this one the most and it looks stunning on a Squarebird.

Here's the link to order one:

                Hello

Jiri thanks for your pix of your 59 convert with tonneau covers as she is a beauty. This is the first time I have seen the Miroccan Ivory color on a 59 the same as my 60.

Dan, here is what Rose looked like when I bought her. My Buddy Rich was test driving her before I bought her. She left the factory with the black top and Casino Cream body. Sometime along the way a previous owner painted the top white.

The Bird on the pictures I posted is not actually mine. It's a convertible Bird that I saw for the first time in my life two years ago in Austria and that inspired me to get me a '59 Squarebird. The Bird on the pictures is Casino Cream color paint. I wish mime was in such a flawless form but we are getting there - slowly but surely... .

Here is a couple of mine Moroccan Ivory '59...

One more info on the '64 - '66 tonneau solution. If you choose to go this way with your Squarebird, be prepared the tonneau from Pat Willson needs some additional fiberglass works at the back sides to fit. (as you can see from my Bird wearing the tonneau just after purchase). The tonneau on the picture is slightly moved to the right, but still you need to cut about 1,5" off the tonneau at the back. I have not installed it just yet - there are higher priority projects on the car at the moment and the tonneau will be my cherry on a cake...

Thomas, you have one fantastic Bird! These photos of yours were amongst the first I downloaded when I was looking for a tonneau solution. Your bright saddle interior looks really great. Actually, everything on the car does... .
