60 Trunk Lock Lid Cover

I just went over these instructions that Don at the Bird Nest gave me a couple of years ago. He confirmed what I wrote on that post that del provided. He did say that the original Trunk Lock Lid Retaining Clip was riveted in place. The replacement has a threaded hole in it. I do not know if you got the screw that fits in that hole. If not, you will have to find one that fits. He also said that when you put that clip in place and screw it down, do so til it is tight and then back off the tension some about a half turn or more because that bird head has to slide up and down. Here is what he confirmed to me again a few minutes ago.

"Put the springs in the housing. Remove the back screw from the bird head that slides up and down. Put the bird head in place. Put the screw back on from the backside of the emblem. Don't over tighten the screw, or the head will not slide as it is supposed to."

Here is a picture that Deblib sent me a couple of years ago, as to how that clip goes in place. I hope this helps, but if not, you might give Don a call at the Bird Nest and see if he can tell you more. If you fix it, please let us know...
