    when switching from 352 to 390 is spacer still used?

    I've never seen a spacer on a 352. At least on ones up to 1960. Maybe the later ones had them. I have seen them on 390's.

      If it had the spacer upon trans removal, you replace it. It gives a needed clearance for the torque convertor/front pump.
