Does anyone remember this? Can you imagine the value of one of these today?

1936 Stainless Steel Ford

This is the 1936 Ford Coupe built for and owned by Allegheny Ludlum Steel. This is 1 of only 4 in existence and is the only one currently in running & in roadworthy condition. The car is in exceptional condition, with the interior and even the frame looking great.

All 4 cars each had over 200,000 miles on them before they removed them from service. These cars were built for Allegheny as promotional and marketing projects. The top salesmen each year were given the honor of being able to drive them for one year. The v-8 engine (max 85 hp) ran like a sewing machine and was surprisingly smooth and quiet.

Here's another photo. A friend of mine was involved in refurbishing the '60 back in the 80's.

The 1936 All Stainless Steel Ford
Hi Mike,

Thanks for that picture! It is to bad there is another car sitting in front of it. That looks like one of the four 1936 Fords sitting next to the '60 Tbird!

Alexander covered these Stainless Steel Tbirds in a web page created some time ago. You will not find it listed anywhere, unfortunately, as it was just posted as an individual page. However, while googling for the 60 Stainless Steel Tbird information, it showed up in the search, along with a video clip about these cars. Check these out. The video clip that I had posted here has been taken down.

Mike, if you have a larger picture of that stainless steel Tbird, please send it to me. That was what I was searching for when I found the above. I would love to have a larger picture than that...

Here are additional pictures of the 1960 Stainless Steel Tbird..

Sorry Ray, I don't. That photo was copied from the museum website where the car resides... Crawford Auto Museum in Cleveland, OH

One of the '36 was recently found in private hands. See the story at Hemmings.

Very interesting find Cathie.
We have a stainless steel fridge trying to look nice & clean, I wonder what effort one would need to keep that baby looking good.
