New guy in Maryland, '60 Thunderbird

Howdy folks, my name is Paul and a friend and I recently bought a 1960 Thunderbird Hardtop. It has a 352, automatic, power seat, power windows, power steering and power brakes.

I also have a 1962 Galaxie that I cruise around, it has the factory 292 but now sports a 4 barrel.

    Welcome Paulie ...

Sweet Galaxie. The Squarebird looks very clean. Can't say I love the paint job, but to each his own and it can always be re-shot if you don't like it. Mike

      Hey Paul,
Love the Galaxie! The custom paint job on the Thunderbird is awesome, really makes the body lines show out! Very nice Bird!

Yeah, baby! I like BOTH your cars. Your Y-Block is one of the last, and getting rare to find (especially G and 113 heads w/1.92 intake valves). I like the four-barrel, too.

        Your cars are CLEAN!

Beautiful cars! The bird reminds me of the custom job on the Watson car.

Thanks for the compliments guys .
The pics of the Thunderbird are a little hazy because the weather was terrible. There is a bright green pinstripe around the House of Color Aztec Gold that doesn't show up well in the pics.

Paul she is a real beauty and certainly a unique paint scheme. Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top would be jealous.

                    . . . gettin close

I picked up the correct fuel pump with vacuum assist and had to change the balancer because the one that was on there came apart. Figured while I was down that far I'd put a new balancer seal in and the water pump had a little slop so I changed that too. Shouldn't be much longer until it's finished (for now that is ) and I'll get some pics of the finished product added.

                    ps - the clock is still running . . . . . . . well, like a clock.

                      . . . gettin' closer

Lets see, what have I done so far.

                      Things completed:
                      - replaced all exterior lamps and bulbs
                      - replaced 1 1/2" blocks with 2" blocks on the rear
                      - corrected all the wiring issues
                      - replaced the headlight and dimmer switches
                      - replaced the dome light
                      - new timing chain, timing cover gasket and seal
                      - new (correct) fuel pump with vacuum assist
                      - new water pump
                      - new belts
                      - polished the top of the radiator reservoir
                      - cleaned paint off of engine bay wiring
                      - rebuilt the power steering cylinder
                      - installed eyelids on headlights
                      - repainted air cleaner and fan to match the white on the body
                      - installed a new harmonic balancer
                      - cleaned all the gauges and fixed the clock
                      - replace assorted vacuum lines
                      - repainted the inside of the side quarter trims to match the pinstriping
                      - painted a new set of rims to match the pinstriping

                      Still need to:
                      - mount the tires that are on the car on the new rims
                      - install the new door handle pads
                      - install new exterior door locks
                      - realign the left door vent window frame
                      - realign the front bumper
                      - finish the new radio and speaker installation

I think that may cover most of it. I've been helping my son do some things on his car so I've not been getting alot done on the Thunderbird.
That's about to change though, I should be finished pretty soon.

Well it's finally back out on the road

I took it out for a cruise last night and plan to drive the wheels off of it this weekend. I'm gonna get some updated pics taken this weekend of the finished product. A lot of the changes are subtle except for the green wheels, but I think it really turned out great.
