I have finally tryed to put in the dome light, but even if I have a brand new lightswitch, I cannot turn it off.
Anyone who can give me a hint of what I should try?
Now... to your problem. Your dome light can come on for 3 reasons:
* either door is open and thus their switch is engaged
* the switch portion of the headlight switch is On. This is normally done by rotating the knob (you doubtless know this). You said your switch was New so I will guess maybe you got the lead for the Dome Light on the wrong post ??
In the Technical Resources Library I put an article about headlight switch repair. Included is info about what post goes to what and does what. Maybe that would help.
Last night I had installed a new carb on mine. Hooked up a little jumper wire on the starter solenoid so I could flush the gas. I hooked up the fuel line next and cranked it over and over. Was very disappointed that it did not start like in the instruction video that came with it. Then it occurred to me: turn the key on!
I once (recently) installed the distributor cap ...without the rotor.
Dang thing wouldn't start or run worth a crap.
After I installed the rotor, it solved my problem
I also tried to start it without the battery cables being hooked up. It didn't work that way either. I bet I turned the key 4 or 5 times and studied the back fo the ignition switch over and over...just couldn't see what the problem was.
Then I figured out that many of my auto problems are caused by "user error".
This is like calling for computer tech support and the first thing they ask is if it is plugged it. Most of us get offended but I have learned in this life that stupid attacks randomly or as it commonly known brain farts happen at some of the most inopportune times.
or conversely gotten into a standard shift car, with it in gear, hit the key and almost got tossed into the back seat. (some of those starter motors have a ******* lot of torque!)

This IS a true story... Maureen, a lady who works in our office, had a Plymouth Barracuda with a 318 in it. Maureen and her husband Wayne owned a Mopar parts business, and were always buying and selling, and attending swap meets and shows. A couple of years ago Maureen went away for a weekend, leaving her hubby at home to run the business.
She got home Sunday night, and early Monday morning jumped in her Plymouth to head into town. She turned the key and it wouldn't start, not even a click. Dead as a doornail. She got popped the hood to see what could be wrong and... Wayne had sold the engine out of her car!!!
That is hilarious, I assume some sort of payback was administered by the wife?
Even Maureen admits now that it was pretty funny. She's our sales lady now, I just asked her if there was a payback and she said "no, there's not enough time left to get even for all the things that Wayne's done over the years."
On the plus side, she also told me that her car ended up getting a 360
