    59 electric windows

I have electric windows in my bird and they all are not working, pulled the motors on the front and bench checked and they are fine, is ther a linkabel fuse, or fuse period for them?

    Thanks

One trouble spot is the switches at the console. You can take them apart, clean and service them, I did that with mine.

The rears have some small grounding block deals on the floor, I found one side on my car had that disconnected.

Yes, I think there is a fuse, just don't remember where.

      59 electric windows

Here is a wiring schematic of the windows system. It might be hard to read but maybe you can zoom in on it to see better. There is a 30amp circuit breaker coming off the electric window relay. Each window has its own 15amp circuit breaker associated with it. Unfortunately, I do not know the actual location of the 30A breaker. I think the 15A circuit breakers are in the doors and inside the panels of the back windows.

Barry RusdtNca is correct the real problem area has always been, the console switch. Once you take off the plate totally clean the contacts IF of course you have checked as you say, the other contact areas first. Do you have a power seat as well??

I do have power seat on the drivers side and it works fine,I checked the switchs and it works on all, if I run a jumper wire from the switch directly to the motor it works fine, when using the existing wiring it tries to work but does not have enough power to turn the motor just clicks.

Barry on our 58HT a couple of years ago, the power seat motor ( which is massive ) when in the full up position for my wife affected the P/W. Upon inspecting the wiring it got pinched, when the seat travelled forward. I installed a wiring sleeve that allowed free travel and all was good. If your running a jumper wire and the motor works fine, can it be the something in the window channel is affecting the travel of the window?? I had to swap out a cracked passenger window last year and once the channels were blown out with air and cleaned worked better than ever.

It seems to me that if you have bypassed the existing wiring harness with other wiring and it works, that there must be something defective about that wiring harness(s). You might want to put new wiring in and see if that fixes the problem as the temporary wiring did. The other suggestions are good ones also. How many of the four windows are effected?

all windows are affected, the glass is out in the front, just trying to get the motors working first, then will reinstall glass.

I have not pulled the back glass and motors yet and may not once I remedy the problem with the fronts.
I am wondering if it is just a bad ground, today I am going to try using the existing wiring and run a ground from the motor to the frame and hope that works.

If not, out comes the wires and in go new ones.

AS far as the seats go I allways put mine all the way back.
No one drives the car but me wright now because she is still under construction.

I will probably re mount the seat and check it anyway, because I think even in the alll the way back possition it is still to close to the front.

willl let you guys know the outcome

Barry that's a good plan and let us know what you found out and if it was the wiring. The electrical on these birds ( with the age they are ) are always a major pain to solve as electrical is not my strong suit.

As a tip: If you are going to move the seat track back AND you have fender mirrors, remember the sight line will have to change.I moved the track back on the 60HT( I am 6'3")
and forgot about that going out for a chooch.
