Can you guys school me on our bird's rear ends?

Looking for info on rebuilding/improving the rear end in my 59, was wondering what the differences were between these 9" rears and the later ones, parts interchangability, etc. Can you just buy new center sections for these old ones, or am I stuck rebuilding this wore out unit with mediocre gearing?

Your rear end is a standard 9 inch Ford with 28 spline axles. Any 9 inch 28 spline center will fit but be aware that the yokes can vary. Aside from swapping your yoke any 9 inch 28 spline center will fit. Hawkrod
