    Perts interchangeability question

I have a lead on some 430 parts I need but don't know if they will fit my 59 430 properly. I'm looking at a power steering pump and attachment bracket from a 1958 Mercury and an air conditioning bracket from a 1962 Lincoln. I don't have any part numbers, just pictures. Does anybody know if these will fit?

Also, I want to get my own parts number and interchangeability lists. I have the Detroit Iron CD but that does not give specific catalog part numbers. Can anyone recommend a source for these?

    Thanks, Vern

oops, perts = parts, but I can't see how to edit the title.

    Parts interchangeability question

    Good Morning, Vern,

I saw your question right as I was about to log off and get to bed. Bart is a good one to answer that question for you, but he is asleep I would imagine. I am sure he will respond to it in the morning when he gets on. Or one of the other guys have have 430MEL's in their Birds. One of them should be able to tell you where to find a book or list with parts interchangeability. Many of the parts that are on our '58-'60 and higher, also were used on the other full sized Ford, Mercs, or Lincolns, but not always. Hopefully, someone will come along in the morning and give you some good answers! G'Night

      Vern:

I don't have a parts or interchangability book. Sorry, but I don't have a clue as to whether they will work. If you post those photos, someone may be able to eyeball whether they look the same.

The Detroit Iron CD should include the MPC for your car for the period. The only bad part is the 59 BIRD MPC is in an earlier edition (49/59) and the 60 BIRD MPC is in a later edition (60/64)

The MERC CD will (should have) the correct MPC for the MERC. The LINC CD should have the MPC for the LINC. LINC/MERC were combined for the 60/64 and 65/72 MPC. Of course EDSEL had it's own MPC also. One would need all of these parts catalogs and learn the system to actually understand what is interchangeable and what is unique.

The AC bracket is interesting. Is the seller willing to clean it to possibly find Stamping I.D. Nos? That will give a hint as to what it would fit.

I also noticed the A/C compressor is turned on it's end and bolted to this bracket (as compared to a '59-'60 430cid Bird which lay on their side). Also the A/C bracket on the 430cid T-Birds have NO adjustable "SLOTS", just 3 round bolt holes, the one you pictured shows 2 adjustable slots & 1 solid round bolt hole- where this A/C bracket would bolt to the head.
