    Exhaust Header Gasket Leak

I've also posted this on the MEL section in case someone who only goes there has an answer.

My 430 has been rebuilt, and the exhaust is leaking at the head pipe gasket. The 430 has a flat gasket -- I'm not sure what the 352 has.

Is there some sealer that can be used between the gasket and head pipe? Or what if I used a double gasket?

I need some advice ASAP because the engine is close to coming back home.

If it is the same flat gasket as my 352/390 stock...Not from what my exhaust guy tells me, he said "that will never seal correctly, I hate those" and he is very good and very picky about leaks.

His suggestion, go to headers or something that doesn't have a flat gasket two bolt connection... It is the only car I've had him tell me he won't guantee zero leaks in the exhaust.

      Fel-Pro makes copper gaskets.
Best bet is, remove the exh/manif's, take em to a machine shop and have them surfaced, then use the copper gaskets. Make sure the EFE (flapper) valve is not frozen shut, or leaking.
FE "log type" manifs are notorious for this. Let's see . . . We'll put a brick wall right outside of the exh ports. Gee . . . think it'll breathe?

Too bad those Galaxie cast iron headers won't work. Oh, that and they're about 600 bucks.
